Street Lights Video Shoot

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

We have been busy these past few weeks working hard to get our debut single “Street Lights” finished, as well as shooting the video for it.

Last week we shot at two locations, and tomorrow we will be completing the shoot at a few more locations here in London. We don’t want to give too much away about the video, but during our next UStream broadcast from Boy Banned HQ we will be screening a ‘behind-the-scenes’ video of the action from the set.

We would like to say a big thank you to Emily, the absolutely stunning young lady who will be appearing in the video during one of the scenes. She was loads of fun to work with and will definitely be invited out to celebrate with us when the video has been completed by the production team.

Keep an eye out for mentions of when we will be hosting the next UStream broadcast. We will post updates here and over on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/boybanned)

Pob’s Strawberry Milkshake Recipe

Friday, September 17th, 2010

Earlier on twitter I shared some pictures of my milkshake production and the response was very positive!

Many people wanted to try some, and a few even asked for the recipe, so I shall now reveal the way to make the ULTIMATE milkshake.

Doctors may not recommend this recipe as it isn’t the healthiest of concoctions, but trust me when I say it tastes delicious.

PREPARATION:

You will need the following:

- Punnet of fresh strawberries.

- Milk

- Sugar

- Vanilla Ice Cream

- NO pineapple (it was just in the picture to look pretty)

STEP ONE:

– Chop off all the green bits.

- Place all the strawberries in the blender.

- Add half a pint of milk.

- Blend until liquified.

STEP TWO:

- Add sugar to taste (i.e. LOTS!)

- Add loadsa ice cream to thicken out and creamify.

- Blend until smooth

STEP THREE:

- Pour into cocktail glass.

- Add one strawberry dipped in sugar to decorate.

- Add straws.

- DRINK IT!

Halo Reach – The Verdict

Friday, September 10th, 2010

Last night was the XBox 360 Launch Party for their brand new game Halo Reach which I attended with Darrin and Ethan and one of our managers. It felt odd not having David with us because of his holiday, but we were keen to see the new game so we weren’t going to turn down this invitation!

After a quick interview with the press on our thoughts on the Halo series and gaming in general, we made our way down to the main room to mingle and get a peek at the new game. Darrin was almost on first name terms with the people carrying the canapé trays around as he munched his way through a feast of mini nibbles.

Reggie Yates introduced the games promo trailer on the big screen to the delight of the celebrities and competition winning Halo enthusiasts, and then a team of Halo masters battled it out against a team of celebrities including Rio Ferdinand, Mr Hudson and Jameela Jamil.

Once the celeb vs gamer battle was over the curtains were drawn to reveal LOADS of flatscreens each linked up to a massive multiplayer battle on the new Halo game so that everyone could play against each other.

Our verdict? AMAZING. Myself and Ethan are always playing against each other at every spare opportunity, so this new release is a must buy to keep us entertained. If anyone from XBox is reading this, we are willing to become official games testers if you want to send us some tools to do the job!

The game comes out on Tuesday 14th September, and is already tipped to be a sell out release. We highly recommend it!

We noticed some familiar faces including Jade from the Sugababes, JJ and Brian from Big Brother and a load of Hollyoaks actors all eager to try out the new Halo.

On our way out we treated the lovely PR girls to an acapella version of one of our songs and attracted the attention of Sam Pepper from Big Brother. We had a chat with him and his friend whilst we waited for our transport to come and pick us up and some Boy Banned t-shirts are on their way to them as requested!

A huge thank you to XBox, Halo, Mary at Edelman PR, Shilpa at Jackie Cooper PR and all of their wonderful colleagues who we met. They all put on an amazing event. We had a great night and met some lovely people.

Halo Reach – XBox Launch Party!

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

It’s no secret that I’m a very keen video game enthusiast, so when the call came through to invite Boy Banned along to the launch party tomorrow night for XBox’s new release from the Halo series, I literally jumped for joy.

Ethan and I regularly battle it out on shoot-em-ups after rehearsals and in our spare time, with an “official challenge” last month crowning me as the best gamer! Although I must admit that the battles since have been very closely fought. So maybe tomorrow with a fresh game in our hands we can see who really is the best.

Having watched us play at the apartment, Darrin is a keen learner to gaming so is very excited to practice his skills at the launch of Halo Reach and try and get up to speed with us both so we can expand our battles to include him in the fun.

Unfortunately David is abroad on holiday and comes back after the event so will be missing out on the launch party, but the rest of us will do plenty of gaming to make up for his absence!

A big thank you to XBox for the invites and we can’t wait to be there!

Gigs, Video Shoot and UStream Broadcast

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

David and Ethan only have a couple more days of relaxing in the sunshine until they return to the UK and get a fresh workload thrown at them. They have both been abroad spending time with their families since the groups UK gigs last week, so as soon as they get back it will be straight into the rehearsal studio to work on more new material and to get ready for Popshow which is on Monday 20th September.

The day after Popshow is a big day for Boy Banned as it will be their first ever video shoot! The boys are all looking forward to filming the video for Street Lights in the UK, and if you haven’t heard the snippet of this track then click here to have a quick  listen. And you can still enter the competition to fly to Spain later this year to film the video for Hot Spot by clicking here.

And finally, after loads of requests by you lot on twitter and facebook, Boy Banned HQ are preparing to get a UStream broadcast set up in the very near future. Keep an eye out for an update soon on when this will take place and start thinking up some questions to ask the boys as they chat to you live on camera!

To speak to the boys directly any time, you can follow them on twitter and add them on facebook:

First UK Gigs A Success!

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

I thought I’d take some time out to write a bit about our gigs over Bank Holiday Weekend earlier this week. It’s a long one…sorry!

Firstly I think I should say a MASSIVE thank you to all of you who sent messages of support on twitter and facebook. You all know who you are. We tried to respond to as many as we could, and apologise to those who were trying to find out where they could meet us. We had interviews after our performance and couldn’t check our mail. It was overwhelming how many people have been in touch over the past couple of weeks, so thank you all!

We did an all day rehearsal on Saturday until the late hours to make sure we were ready for the gigs, and then after a nice mini lie-in on Sunday and some X Factor on catch up, we all met up before heading on down to Southampton.

After checking into our hotel we went to the club (where The Wanted performed just a few weeks ago!) for our sound check, and became acquainted with the size of stage for our routines. Then after a nice big dinner we returned to the club to do our set at The Edge in Southampton where we were greeted by a very friendly crowd. A big thank you to all the staff at The Edge who looked after us so well, and to all those who came to meet us afterwards. We met some great people that night and would love to come back and see you all again in the future.

We all unwisely ended up watching the Xtra Factor in our hotel rooms when we returned, despite having to be up for our flight to Manchester in less than 5 hours. So with big sunglasses covering our eyes, we all boarded the plane on Monday morning ready to get psyched up for the mainstage at Manchester Pride! David and Darrin attempted to sleep whilst Ethan and I were amazed by the views over England on the way up north.

Once in Manchester we destroyed our breakfasts and went to get ready at our own private apartment. Before we knew it we were on stage in front of a great crowd of people who were dancing along with our tracks and making us forget all about how tired we were! It wasn’t until we returned to our apartment that the exhaustion kicked in and we collapsed on the sofas.

But that wasn’t the end of the day. We had a couple of video interviews to get through before heading all the way back to London where our beds were calling our names.

We had a great weekend and once again would like to thank everyone involved with making it such a good time for us, whether you messaged us, supported us in person or were working at the venues, you were all fantastic.

I made a little handycam diary over the 3 days, so expect a little video early next week of what we got up to behind the scenes.

Our next gig is Monday 20th September at Popshow in London. See www.facebook.com/boybanned for more details.
